Shout out to the skilled tradespeople and a remind Shout out to the skilled tradespeople and a reminder: jobs in 2026 are increasingly weird. Making money based on something unique to you can be *a* way to make money, but it's not the only way, and it doesn't have to be a disappointing identity crisis if it doesn't work out. It can feel personal but it's not. Having to have a job is a construction. Capitalist market demands are invented. Cool jobs are a made up thing. It's okay to just have a job that you can do but isn't really specifically about you. Just try not to make the world worse...

For people using AI in their business, or those looking to ensure their business doesn’t engage with AI - a Responsible Use Policy is a start. It asks you to build on your data privacy policy to: * Name values, principles, and red lines. * List use cases that are ok, and those that are not - bonus: identify these for your biz and vendors/contractors [this second part is important if you’re avoiding or minimizing AI]. * Identify specific tools used and their data privacy settings * Name how you plan to monitor use, permissions, and outputs Now that we’re inundated by AI tools of all kinds, gaining knowledge about where they can show up and offering transparency - and consent/opt-out - about use and data privacy is SO important - the latter, soon to be required if you have customers in the EU depending on your use cases. I have a policy of this kind on my business website, a disclosure in my coaching session flow, and an expanded policy I’ve started attaching to consulting contracts. The longer the project of rolling out AI goes on, the more I think it’s important to find ways to name what’s happening without shame, to build awareness and mitigate harm. (and all of this makes me think a lot about financial systems…)
